At a Glance:
Gathering contextual inspirations.
Slow progress and feeling behind target.
Demotivated due to work quality.
Need to complete outstanding work before moving onto research.
What was I doing?
We've been taking the time to continue gathering influences and writing the project proposal. The contextual document works in tandem with potential influences, which are important to have in preparation for Week 2 where I will be investigating existing products and taking valuable information from these.
How was I feeling?
It has unfortunately felt like a slow week in terms of progress. I feel that I'll have to complete additional work in my own time in order to get the documents to a standard I deem more suitable. The Proposal has however prompted me to properly consider the future of the project. I have, and continue to feel quite apprehensive about such a large undertaking; but it is my hope that as the project progresses I will develop a better understanding of what I'd like to achieve, and produce a clearer picture of a proposed end product.
What were the pros and cons?
The quality of my work has been poor so far, with the temptation of leaving work until later overtaking the motivation to actually complete it at the time. It has been a beneficial lesson though, because as the project progresses I understand that work will get even more busy. It is likely that I wouldn't even have the free time to catch up, and that could have severe consequences during production time.
What more could've I done?
I realise that I should've kept up to date with my documentation. It would've been more beneficial to complete the work within the allocated time frame so that it continues to be fresh in my mind. It also would've been good to pre-plan assets before writing them, as this would make a write-up easier and more concise.
What's next?
I'll be moving onto researching existing products, however not before the existing proposal and context work is completed. I will need to work towards considering research targets in my proposal which should hopefully help with making research easier and quicker.
