Week 3

At a Glance:

  • Strong progress on researching themes of isolation.

  • Additional work on audience profiles has provided better, more relevant information.

  • Feel that lack of additional research may hinder progress in other areas.

  • Feeling under prepared in terms of story writing.

What was I doing?

I've been using the time to finish my research activities, focusing specifically on adding more existing products. I've done a lot more investigation into the subject of loneliness by looking at films which reflect these themes while also backing these ideas up with relevant reports. I have also taken the time to look into my audience more, aiming to gather more relevant information as this was an area which was lacking previously.

How was I feeling?

Wednesday felt like my best day, as I worked the best I have at home in a long time, while also getting a lot of extra research completed. The rest of the week felt rather slow, however I finished all the research so that has made me feel more optimistic. Although I'm still quite apprehensive about the story writing stage. I've noted a lot of scene/plot points I'd like to include from research, but these feel quite disorganised and may not even work with the themes I am trying to achieve.

What were the pros and cons?

I gained a lot of valuable research on Wednesday which should ultimately help to influence a better product. Having the research finished within the allocated time should also allow for more critical planning time. However, I do feel that my progress on Thursday/Friday was slower than I'd like, where the time could've been used for additional research.

What more could've I done?

I should've utilised more of the research time to consider additional important points. Looking into storytelling/writing techniques would've been a great help in preparation for next week, however I decided to focus on smaller, remedial work instead - Such as adding pictures and rearranging slides, which is ultimately not worthwhile.

What's next?

I've scheduled to take the time to properly consider my story during half term. Although this isn't actually required until quite a while away, I feel that it will be beneficial to have plot points established in order to begin considering actors and techniques I'll need to practice during problem solving. The week after half term should consist of experiments, so this is something I'll also need to consider in preparation for before returning to college.
